Samsung's app store, which also delivers updates for Samsung's own preinstalled apps on Galaxy phones. Keep it: Galaxy Store is needed for the phone, its updates or its security.

What it does

Galaxy Store is Samsung's app store. Besides apps, games, themes and watch faces, it is the channel that updates many of Samsung's own apps, such as the keyboard, Phone, Bixby and Gallery, separately from the Play Store. It needs a Samsung account for downloads and can update apps automatically on Wi-Fi. It runs when you open it and when it checks for updates.

Also shown as Samsung Apps.

If you disable it

Samsung's own apps stop receiving updates through the Galaxy Store, including fixes for security problems in those apps, and you cannot download themes or Galaxy Store apps.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sec.android.app.samsungapps

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.sec.android.app.samsungapps

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.android.app.samsungapps

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.sec.android.app.samsungapps

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
