A hidden helper for Smart Switch with no name of its own in Settings, found on Galaxy phones since Android 10. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

This package has no visible app and Settings shows only its package name. Community lists tie it to Smart Switch, Samsung's data-transfer tool, and it appears on almost every Galaxy device profile from Android 10 to current models. It is not documented by Samsung, so its exact job during a transfer is not public. It does not run unless Smart Switch needs it.

If you disable it

No everyday feature is known to depend on it. Re-enable it before a Smart Switch transfer in case the transfer needs it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.smartswitchassistant

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.smartswitchassistant

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.smartswitchassistant

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.smartswitchassistant

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
