Android Switch, previously listed as Data Restore Tool, is the Google app that moves your data to a new phone. During setup it copies photos, videos, contacts, apps and more from another Android device or an iPhone, and it also handles restoring from a Google backup. Google says that on Pixel 9 and later it can also be used after setup. Outside of a transfer it stays idle.
Also shown as Data Restore Tool.
Nothing on a phone that is already set up; you lose the option to copy data from another phone later, and a factory reset brings it back for the next setup.
Settings offers Disable for this package on most phones. Open Settings > Apps > See all apps > Android Switch > Disable.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.apps.restoreTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.google.android.apps.restoreThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.apps.restoreRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.google.android.apps.restoreNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
