Samsung's option to play one app's audio through a different speaker or headset than the rest of the phone. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Separate app sound sends the audio from apps you choose to a different output, for example music to a Bluetooth speaker while videos and calls stay on the phone. You set it up under Sounds and vibration in Settings by picking the apps and the audio device. It runs only while the feature is on and audio is playing.

If you disable it

The Separate app sound option disappears and all audio goes to one output again.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.setting.multisound

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.setting.multisound

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.setting.multisound

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.setting.multisound

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
