Receives push messages from Samsung Knox cloud services such as device management and enrollment. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

KnoxPushManager is the channel that Samsung's Knox cloud services use to reach a Galaxy phone. Device management, enrollment and other Knox services send commands that this package receives and passes to the right component. Samsung preinstalls it on Galaxy devices. On a phone that no Knox service manages, it has little to do.

If you disable it

On a personal phone nothing visible changes. On a phone managed, enrolled or financed through Knox, commands from the provider may stop arriving and the phone can fall out of compliance.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.knox.pushmanager

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.knox.pushmanager

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.knox.pushmanager

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.knox.pushmanager

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
