This package is the phone side of Samsung Knox Guard, a service that carriers, retailers and lenders use for financed, leased or pay-as-you-go phones. When a phone is registered with Knox Guard, the provider can lock it, show a message or restrict features when payments are overdue, and unlock it when the account is current. Samsung preinstalls it on Galaxy phones, and on a phone not registered with Knox Guard it stays inactive. Settings shows it as Device Services, and older Samsung application lists call it Payment Services.
Also shown as Payment Services, Knox Guard.
Removing it can trigger a full-screen lock saying device services were removed without authorization, which persists through restarts until a factory reset. Do not disable or uninstall it.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Turn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.kgclientRestore it after a per-user uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.kgclientOn a phone registered with Knox Guard, it checks in with Samsung's Knox Guard servers and reports lock status to the provider.
com.samsung.android.kgclient is Device Services. The Knox Guard client that lets a carrier or lender lock a financed or leased Galaxy phone, for example over missed payments.

It is Samsung's Knox Guard client, preinstalled on Galaxy phones. It only acts if a carrier or lender registered the phone with Knox Guard, and removing it can lock the phone.
