Update Service is a background component of the ColorOS and OxygenOS update machinery. Community lists describe it as responsible for installing updates, and its name follows OPPO's older config updater, which pulled settings and component updates from OPPO's servers between full releases. It runs in the background.
Community lists warn that updates may stop installing. The exact effect is not documented.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
