A Motorola package that defines the shared permissions other Moto apps use to talk to each other. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

MotoSignatureApp has no screen and does no work of its own. Community analyses found that it declares the custom permissions and their descriptions that other Motorola apps rely on, such as those used to launch Gametime or reach Motorola's internal services. It is installed on every recent Moto G and Edge model.

If you disable it

Some community lists suggest removing it, but Motorola apps that depend on the permissions it declares may misbehave. It uses no battery or data, so there is little to gain.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.motosignature.app

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.motorola.motosignature.app

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.motosignature.app

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.motorola.motosignature.app

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
