A Motorola extension that adds Motorola's own options to the Settings app. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Motorola Settings is an extension package that plugs Motorola-specific options into Android's Settings app, with device-specific variants for features such as double-tap gestures. Community testers report that removing it does not cause a boot loop but could not pin down what it changes. It runs when Settings loads its pages.

If you disable it

Some Motorola-specific entries in Settings may disappear. Community testers saw no boot problems.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.coresettingsext

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.motorola.coresettingsext

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.coresettingsext

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.motorola.coresettingsext

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
