Moto App Launcher is the standard home screen on Moto phones, with the app drawer, widgets, the Google search bar and Motorola's clock widget. Motorola documents switching back to it under Settings > Apps > Default apps > Home app. As on most Android 10 and later phones, the default launcher also hosts the recent apps screen, so it keeps working even when you choose another home app. It runs whenever the phone is on.
Without another launcher you have no home screen, and even with one, community testers report that the recent apps screen breaks.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.launcher3Turn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.motorola.launcher3The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.launcher3Restore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.motorola.launcher3New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
