A resource package that holds the phone's Wi-Fi configuration values for Google's Wi-Fi Mainline module. Keep it: System Wi-Fi Resources is needed for the phone, its updates or its security.

What it does

System Wi-Fi Resources is the resource package that pairs with Google's build of the Wi-Fi Mainline module. It has no code of its own; it carries the configuration values the Wi-Fi service reads, and phone makers adjust them with overlays to suit their hardware and carriers. Keeping these values in a separate package lets the Wi-Fi module update without losing the device-specific tuning.

If you disable it

The Wi-Fi service can lose its device configuration, which community lists say can break Wi-Fi. There is nothing to gain from disabling it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.wifi.resources

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.google.android.wifi.resources

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.wifi.resources

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.google.android.wifi.resources

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Holds configuration values only; no user data.
