The Wi-Fi configuration resource package that pairs with Android's Wi-Fi module on phones without Google's build. Keep it: System Wi-Fi Resources is needed for the phone, its updates or its security.

What it does

System Wi-Fi Resources holds the configuration values Android's Wi-Fi service reads, which phone makers tune with overlays for their hardware and carriers. Keeping them in a separate package lets the Wi-Fi Mainline module update without losing that tuning. Phones with Google apps usually carry Google's version, com.google.android.wifi.resources.

If you disable it

The Wi-Fi service can lose its device configuration, and community lists rate removal as unsafe.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.wifi.resources

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.android.wifi.resources

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.wifi.resources

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.wifi.resources

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Holds configuration values only; no user data.
