Bluetooth
The Android Bluetooth service that pairs and connects headphones, cars, watches and other Bluetooth devices.
Android (AOSP) package
The Android service that pairs watches, earbuds and other companion devices with the apps that manage them. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
Companion Device Manager shows the pairing prompt when an app such as a smartwatch or earbuds app wants to link to a nearby device, and it then grants that app the background access it needs to stay connected. Android also uses it for features that stream apps or notifications to a nearby computer or tablet. It runs when an app starts a pairing or reconnects to a linked device.
Watch, earbud and fitness band apps cannot pair new devices and may lose background access to the ones already linked.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.companiondevicemanagerTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.android.companiondevicemanagerThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.companiondevicemanagerRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.companiondevicemanagerNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
