Android Setup
Google's welcome screens that run the first time you turn on the phone and again after a factory reset.
Android (AOSP) package
The Android setup flow for work profiles and phones managed by an employer or school. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
Work Setup is the Android component that turns a phone into a managed device, or adds a work profile, when your employer or school uses device management. It runs the enrollment screens, accepts QR code and zero-touch setups and hands control to the management app. It does nothing on a personal phone unless a work profile or enrollment is started.
Also shown as Managed Provisioning.
You cannot add a work profile or enroll the phone in company management, and existing work profiles may misbehave, so leave it alone on a managed phone.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.managedprovisioningTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.android.managedprovisioningThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.managedprovisioningRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.managedprovisioningNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
During enrollment it passes device details to the management app your organization chose.
