ProxyHandler
The background service that applies automatic proxy settings for networks configured to use them.
Android (AOSP) package
The helper that runs proxy auto-config scripts for networks that assign a proxy automatically. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
PacProcessor runs proxy auto-config (PAC) scripts, the small programs some company and school networks use to tell devices which proxy server to use for each web address. Android calls it when a Wi-Fi network or VPN is set to use a PAC address, and it runs in an isolated process. On networks without a PAC setting it does nothing.
Networks that rely on a proxy auto-config script stop loading web content; ordinary home and mobile networks are unaffected.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.pacprocessorTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.android.pacprocessorThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.pacprocessorRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.pacprocessorNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
Checks web addresses against the network's proxy script on the device.
