Android's basic screen saver package with the slowly shifting Colors screen saver. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Basic Daydreams contains Android's simplest screen saver, Colors, which shows slowly changing colors while the phone is charging or docked. Screen savers are chosen in the display settings, and this one runs only if you select it and the screen saver starts.

If you disable it

The Colors screen saver disappears from the screen saver list.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.dreams.basic

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.android.dreams.basic

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.dreams.basic

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.dreams.basic

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
