An older Samsung security agent that warned about unofficial system changes and powered the app permission monitor. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

SecurityLogAgent watched for unauthorized changes to the system software and alerted you, and on older Galaxy phones it powered the App permission monitor that flagged apps using sensitive permissions. Device surveys find it on phones such as the Note8 and Note9. On newer phones, permission history moved into Android's own permission manager.

If you disable it

Security alerts about system changes and the App permission monitor stop on phones that have it.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.securitylogagent

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.securitylogagent

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.securitylogagent

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.securitylogagent

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery
