Core service for Knox Platform for Enterprise, the Samsung licence layer that device-management tools use. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

KPECore supports Knox Platform for Enterprise, the set of Samsung security and management features that companies switch on through their device-management service. Apps and management tools that use the Knox SDK call it to check licences and apply enterprise policies. Samsung ships it on Galaxy phones and tablets. On a personal, unmanaged phone it is mostly idle.

If you disable it

Company device management and apps that use Knox enterprise features may fail on a managed phone. A personal phone shows no visible change.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.knox.kpecore

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.knox.kpecore

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.knox.kpecore

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.knox.kpecore

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
