Samsung's built-in VPN for public Wi-Fi, with a monthly free allowance and paid unlimited plans. It is safe to disable: you lose nothing most people will miss.

What it does

Secure Wi-Fi encrypts your traffic and hides it from trackers when you use public or unsecured Wi-Fi, and can switch on automatically in places such as cafes and airports. Samsung offers a free monthly data allowance and paid unlimited plans, all tied to your Samsung account. It is found under Security and privacy in Settings and runs only while protection is on.

If you disable it

Secure Wi-Fi protection is no longer available. Other VPN apps work as before.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.fast

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.fast

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.fast

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.fast

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
