The Dolby Atmos app on Moto phones, with spatial audio, smart audio, sound profiles and an equalizer. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Dolby Atmos tunes sound from the phone's speakers and connected headphones, with Smart audio that adapts to what is playing, Spatial audio, preset profiles for music, film, games and podcasts, and a custom equalizer. Motorola documents opening it from Quick Settings or the app, and turning it off under Settings > Sound & vibration. It applies effects while audio plays.

If you disable it

Dolby sound profiles, spatial audio and the equalizer go away, and speaker sound may become flatter. Audio still plays normally.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.dolby.dolbyui

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.motorola.dolby.dolbyui

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.dolby.dolbyui

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.motorola.dolby.dolbyui

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
