Google Services Framework is a background package that ships next to Google Play services on phones with Google apps. It keeps the device's Google Services Framework ID, the identifier Google uses to register the phone with its services, and community analysis links it to account sync and cloud messaging work that Google Play services now mostly handles. It has no icon and no settings of its own. Google does not publish documentation for it, so its duties today are known mainly from community and press reports.
Also shown as GSF.
Community reports say Google sign-in, Play Store downloads and push notifications become unreliable and the phone can lose its Google registration. Treat it like Google Play services and leave it enabled.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.gsfTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.google.android.gsfThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.gsfRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.google.android.gsfNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
