The service that checks website files so verified app links open in the right app instead of the browser. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.

What it does

Intent Filter Verification Service checks Android App Links. When an app claims it can open links for a website, this service fetches that site's Digital Asset Links file to confirm the app is approved, and Android then opens matching links straight in the app. It runs after apps are installed or updated and when Android rechecks domains.

If you disable it

Links that should open directly in their apps open in the browser or show a chooser instead. Community lists rate removal as unsafe.

How to disable it

On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.

Disable it (reversible)

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.statementservice

Turn it back on

adb shell pm enable com.android.statementservice

The stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.

Uninstall for the main user

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.statementservice

Restore after an uninstall

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.statementservice

New to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.

Data and battery

Requests the Digital Asset Links file from the websites that installed apps claim.
