Android (AOSP) package
Android's default carrier settings, which tune calling, messaging and data behavior for your SIM's carrier. Keep it: com.android.carrierconfig is needed for the phone, its updates or its security.
This package supplies Android's built-in carrier configuration: per-carrier settings such as VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling support, voicemail, SMS and MMS limits, roaming rules and network display options. The phone reads it when a SIM is inserted or the carrier changes, and a carrier's own app can override parts of it. It has no app label, so Settings shows the package name.
Also shown as CarrierConfig.
The phone falls back to generic carrier settings, which can break VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, MMS or voicemail on your carrier.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.carrierconfigTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.android.carrierconfigThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.carrierconfigRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.carrierconfigNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
