Contacts
Samsung's Contacts app, which the Phone app and the emergency info settings rely on.
Samsung package
Samsung's emergency feature that calls for help and sends your location to contacts when you press the side key repeatedly. Keep it: Emergency SOS is needed for the phone, its updates or its security.
Emergency SOS lets you press the side key several times to call emergency services, and can send your location, photos and a short audio clip to chosen contacts. It is set up under Safety and emergency in Settings, where the trigger, countdown and contacts are chosen. It runs in the background so the side-key trigger works at any time.
Pressing the side key repeatedly no longer starts an emergency call or sends SOS messages. Dialing an emergency number from the Phone app still works.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.emergencyTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.emergencyThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.emergencyRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.emergencyNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
