Named system app
What is Samsung Members?
Samsung's support and community app for Galaxy phones, with phone diagnostics, error reports, tips and member perks.
What is Samsung Members?
Samsung Members is Samsung's own support and community app on Galaxy phones and tablets. It combines several things in one place: Samsung news and tips, a community forum for Galaxy owners, member events and perks, a set of phone diagnostic tests, an error report form that can attach system logs, and in some regions one-on-one help from Samsung staff.
Samsung's US support page uses it as the first stop for troubleshooting. Its Diagnostics section can test the battery, screen, sensors, buttons, cameras, speakers and more, one at a time or all at once, and its error report form lets you send a description, screenshots and a system log straight to Samsung. Samsung also runs One UI beta sign-ups through the app in countries where the beta program is offered.
The app's package name is com.samsung.android.voc, which is why that string shows up in ADB lists. Samsung lists the app on the Galaxy Store and Google Play for updates.
Can I disable it?
Yes, you can disable Samsung Members safely; nothing on the phone depends on it, and you only lose its own features. On most Galaxy phones Settings > Apps > Samsung Members offers Disable, and on some models and regions Uninstall. Where neither button works, ADB does:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.vocWhat you lose: the community feed, Samsung news and tips, member perks, the Diagnostics tests and the in-app error report form. Software updates, Samsung account sign-in, Galaxy Store, Samsung Wallet and everything else keep working.
If you might want the diagnostics later, keep it and just switch off its notifications instead: long-press a Samsung Members notification and turn that category off, or go to Settings > Notifications and turn the app's notifications off.
Does it drain battery or data?
No, it uses little battery or data unless you browse it, because most of its content only loads when you open it. In the background it checks for news, event announcements and replies to your community posts, which is why it can appear in battery and data lists with a small share.
If Samsung Members looks busy in the battery list, the usual reasons are a diagnostic test that was left running, a large error report with logs still uploading, or frequent promotional notifications. Opening the app once to let pending uploads finish, or turning off its marketing notifications, usually brings it back down.
Why did it just update?
It updated because Samsung delivers Samsung Members through the Galaxy Store and the Google Play Store, apart from One UI updates. Samsung updates it to add community features and member events, to change the diagnostics tests for new models and to fix bugs.
Updates often arrive around new Galaxy launches and One UI releases, when Samsung adds tips for the new features and opens or closes beta programs.
Which packages are behind it?
One package:
- com.samsung.android.voc is Samsung Members.
Some older Galaxy phones carried a separate, earlier member app; on current phones, com.samsung.android.voc is the only package behind Samsung Members.
If something goes wrong
If Samsung Members crashes or will not load, update it from the Galaxy Store, then clear its cache from Settings > Apps > Samsung Members > Storage > Clear cache and restart the phone. Clearing storage as well resets the app; you will need to sign in to your Samsung account again inside it.
If Diagnostics will not start a test, close other apps that use the hardware being tested, such as the camera or a voice recorder, and try again. Some tests ask you to press buttons or touch the screen, so follow the prompts on screen.
If an error report will not send, check that you are signed in to your Samsung account and connected to Wi-Fi, especially when including a system log, which can be large.
If you cannot open the app at all because the phone itself is failing, Samsung's own advice is to use its online support center or request service instead.
To bring Samsung Members back after disabling it with ADB:
adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.voc
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.vocPackage pages
Questions people ask
Will I stop getting software updates if I remove Samsung Members?
No. One UI and security updates come through Settings > Software update, which does not depend on Samsung Members. Beta program sign-ups do use the app.
What is com.samsung.android.voc in my ADB list?
It is Samsung Members' package name. Settings shows the app as Samsung Members; the package name only appears in ADB lists and some app details screens.
