What is OnePlus Health?
The companion app for OnePlus wearables, now succeeded by OHealth; safe to remove if you do not use a OnePlus watch or band.
What is OnePlus Health?
OnePlus Health is OnePlus's companion app for its wearables, used to pair a OnePlus Band or OnePlus Watch and to record and show the health and activity data they collect. Its Play listing describes daily activity, heart rate and sleep tracking, workout records with routes, steps and calories, and pairing and managing OnePlus smart devices, including passing notifications and incoming call details to the watch.
For newer wearables OnePlus has moved to a different app, OHealth, formerly called HeyTap Health. OHealth is the companion app for OPPO watches and bands and for the OnePlus Watch 2 and later; OnePlus's own FAQ for the OnePlus Watch 3 tells owners to download OHealth from Google Play, and says it needs Android 9 or later. So if you find "OnePlus Health" or "OHealth" on your phone, it is there for a watch or band, or because it came with the phone.
Whether one of these apps came preinstalled depends on the phone model and region. Settings > Apps > (app) > App details shows whether the copy on your phone is linked to a store listing, and whether Uninstall is offered.
Can I disable it?
Yes, it is safe to remove or disable if you do not use a OnePlus or OPPO wearable; nothing else on the phone depends on it. If it came from Google Play, uninstall it like any other app. If it came with the phone and Settings only offers Disable, use that, or ADB:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.oneplus.health.international
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.heytap.health.internationalRun only the line for the app you actually have.
What you lose: syncing with your watch or band, notifications and call alerts on the wearable, watch face and settings management, and the health history shown in the app. OnePlus notes that the Watch 3 can track on its own, but data kept on the watch stops being shown after seven days, so a watch owner who removes the app loses longer-term history.
If you use a wearable, keep the app and control what it can see instead, such as notification access and which health data it records.
Does it drain battery or data?
It can use noticeable battery when a wearable is paired, because it keeps a Bluetooth connection open, forwards notifications and syncs health data in the background. That steady work is why it appears in battery lists on phones paired with a watch. Without a wearable paired, its use should be close to zero.
Data use comes from syncing health records to your account, downloading watch faces and firmware updates for the wearable, and the app's own updates. Firmware downloads for a watch can be large, so do them on Wi-Fi.
If the app drains battery while no wearable is paired, sign out of it or remove it; there is nothing for it to do.
Why did it just update?
It updated because both OnePlus Health and OHealth are delivered through the Google Play Store, separately from OxygenOS updates. Updates add support for new wearables, fix syncing problems and change health features.
OHealth tends to update more often because it supports the current OnePlus and OPPO wearables, while OnePlus Health supports the older ones.
Which packages are behind it?
Two packages, depending on which wearable you use:
- com.oneplus.health.international is OnePlus Health, for the OnePlus Band and the first OnePlus Watch.
- com.heytap.health.international is OHealth, for OPPO wearables and the OnePlus Watch 2 and later.
Some phones carry only one of these, and many carry neither until a wearable is set up.
If something goes wrong
If your watch or band stops syncing, check that Bluetooth is on, that the app is allowed to run in the background, and that it still has notification access, then restart both the phone and the wearable. Battery optimization settings that put the app to sleep are the most common cause of missed syncs and notifications.
The OnePlus Health Play listing has its own fix for one known problem: on OxygenOS 13, if the app will not start, sign out of the OnePlus account in the phone's system settings, then open OnePlus Health and sign in there.
Before reinstalling or clearing the app's data, make sure your history is synced to your account; data kept only on the phone can be lost.
To restore a copy you disabled with ADB:
adb shell pm enable com.oneplus.health.international
adb shell pm enable com.heytap.health.internationalPackage pages
Questions people ask
Which app does my OnePlus Watch need?
OnePlus says the OnePlus Watch 3 uses the OHealth app from Google Play, on phones running Android 9 or later. The older OnePlus Band and first OnePlus Watch used the OnePlus Health app.
Will I lose my health history if I uninstall it?
History stored only in the app is lost when its data is removed, unless it was synced to your account in the cloud. Check the app's sync settings before uninstalling.
