Named system app
What is Joyose?
An undocumented Xiaomi system app tied to game and graphics performance tuning on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones.
What is Joyose?
Joyose is a Xiaomi system app found on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones running MIUI or HyperOS, and community evidence ties it to game and graphics performance tuning. It has no icon and no settings screen; Settings shows only its name, Joyose, and its package name is com.xiaomi.joyose.
Xiaomi has not published a description of what Joyose does, which is unusual for an app that shows up so often in update lists and battery screens. Community debloat lists describe it as a GPU tuner that adjusts how games run, and some users report that it caps frame rates in certain games, for example holding a game at 60 frames per second after a higher setting was chosen. Those reports are consistent with an app that applies performance profiles per game, but they come from users, not from Xiaomi.
Joyose is present on phones set up in many countries, as system app databases show, so it is not limited to Chinese models. It updates separately from the main system software, so it appears on its own in Xiaomi's app update lists.
Can I disable it?
Yes, with ADB, but it is an advanced change because Joyose appears to manage game and graphics performance and its effects differ from phone to phone. Settings does not offer a Disable button for it. The command is:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.joyoseWhat to expect, based on community reports rather than Xiaomi documentation: some users see higher or steadier frame rates in games once Joyose is off; others notice the phone running warmer, or no difference at all. Nothing in the reports links Joyose to calls, messages, the camera or updates.
Disable it only if you have a reason, such as a game that is clearly capped, and watch how warm the phone gets in long sessions afterwards. If anything changes for the worse, such as games stuttering or the screen's refresh rate not sticking, turn it back on. Because Xiaomi does not document Joyose, we rate our own confidence here as community-based.
Does it drain battery or data?
Joyose usually uses little battery: it runs in the background, and users mostly notice it in battery lists after gaming sessions, which fits an app that works while games are open.
It also uses small amounts of data, mostly for its own updates, which come from Xiaomi's servers rather than Google Play. Xiaomi has not said what else, if anything, it exchanges with its servers. Xiaomi's privacy white paper covers system services in general but does not single Joyose out.
If Joyose shows steady battery use when you are not playing, a game or game-like app may be running in the background. Check the battery screen for it before changing Joyose.
Why did it just update?
It updated because Xiaomi pushes Joyose updates through its own system app update service, outside of full MIUI or HyperOS updates and outside Google Play. Xiaomi does not publish release notes for Joyose, so what each update changes is not public.
Because the updates come from Xiaomi directly, they can appear even when Play Store auto-updates are off. A disabled Joyose stops updating until you turn it back on.
Which packages are behind it?
One package:
- com.xiaomi.joyose is Joyose.
On many Xiaomi phones it sits alongside Game Turbo, Xiaomi's game mode, which has its own package and its own settings. If you want to change how games run, Game Turbo's settings are the documented place to do it.
If something goes wrong
If games stutter, drop frames or seem capped after an update, first update Joyose and the system software, then restart. If you changed Joyose recently, undo that change before trying anything else:
adb shell pm enable com.xiaomi.joyose
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.xiaomi.joyoseIf the screen's refresh rate keeps falling back to a lower setting, check Settings > Display for the refresh rate option and Game Turbo's per-game settings; both can override what you choose elsewhere.
If Joyose was not touched and a game still runs badly, clear that game's cache, close background apps and let the phone cool down before testing again. Heat and background load are more common causes of in-game slowdowns than any single system app.

Questions people ask
Is Joyose a virus or spyware?
No evidence says so. It is a Xiaomi system app signed and shipped by Xiaomi. What Xiaomi has not done is publish a plain description of it, which is why people are suspicious.
Will disabling Joyose unlock higher frame rates in games?
Sometimes, according to community reports, but results vary by phone and game, and the phone may run hotter. Re-enable it if games or the screen's refresh rate start behaving oddly.
