Phone Services
The core telephony service that connects the phone to the cellular network for calls, texts and mobile data.
Android (AOSP) package
Android's Opportunistic Network Service, which can move data to a secondary carrier network when one is available. You can disable it, with a caveat: read what stops working first.
This package is Android's Opportunistic Network Service. Carrier apps use it to tell the phone about secondary networks, such as a partner network or a private LTE network, and it decides when to move data to them and back based on availability and priority. It has no app label, so Settings shows the package name, and most phones never use it in everyday service.
Also shown as Opportunistic Network Service.
Automatic switching to a carrier's opportunistic network stops; your main network service is unaffected for most people.
On most phones Settings greys out Disable for this package, so ADB is the way to turn it off. The commands below work without root and can be undone.
Disable it (reversible)
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.onsTurn it back on
adb shell pm enable com.android.onsThe stronger option removes it for your user only; the original copy stays on the phone and a factory reset brings it back. Prefer disabling: it is easier to undo.
Uninstall for the main user
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.onsRestore after an uninstall
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.onsNew to ADB? Set it up in about ten minutes.
